The district this year set an all-time high on National Merit Scholarship Program semifinalists with 20 students named Wednesday as part of the program\u2019s nationwide announcement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Comprising the 20 students selected for this distinguished recognition are 18 seniors from Caddo Parish Magnet High School and two seniors from Captain Shreve High School.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">To qualify as a semifinalist, Caddo\u2019s students were among approximately 1.5 million 11th graders from across the United States who took the Preliminary SAT\/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test with the hope of making it to the next round of the scholarship competition.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">From the 1.5 million students, approximately 16,000 were designated as semifinalists.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Caddo&#8217;s 2020-2021 school year semifinalists are:<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Mark Raines, Captain Shreve High School<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Patrick Simon, Captain Shreve High School<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Read more at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shreveporttimes.com\/story\/news\/education\/2020\/09\/09\/caddo-schools-lead-region-national-merit-semifinalists\/5760757002\/\">ShreveportTimes.com<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Caddo Parish Public Schools is raising the bar on academic excellence.
