Boys State and Girls State Delegates Announced

Captain Shreve High School is pleased to announce its 2015 Louisiana Boys and Girls State delegates.  The students will attend a week-long summer camp at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches where they will learn how government works while developing leadership skills and an appreciation for their rights as a citizen.  Nine Captain Shreve juniors will attend the event.  Attending Louisiana Boys State are Jared Aymond, Gabriel Clottey, Christian Lindsey, Isaiah Dotson, and James Payne.  Attending Louisiana Girls State are Samantha Hilburn, Maggie Matkins, Jordan Brint, and Katie Matkins.

As participants in the program, the students will run for office, learn public speaking, create and enforce laws, and participate in all aspects of creating and working in government.

Payne Selected as Technical and Music Director of LASC Summer Workshop

A Captain Shreve High School Student Council member has been selected to serve as a technical and music director at the Louisiana Association of Student Councils Summer Workshop for middle and high school students at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches this summer.  Junior James Payne, son of Ken and Karen Payne, will attend the annual week-long event and will work with other student council members from across the state to setup, plan, and conduct the workshop.

Fertitta and Hilburn to Serve as Counselors for LASC Summer Workshop

Two Captain Shreve High School Student Council members have been selected to serve as Junior Counselors at the Louisiana Association of Student Councils Summer Workshop at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches this summer.  Senior Mary Catherine Fertitta, Student Council President, is the daughter of Anthony and Catherine Fertitta.  Junior Samantha Hilburn, Student Council Senator, is the daughter of Cary and Jennifer Hilburn.  Both students will attend the annual week-long event and will work with other student council members from across the state in leadership training workshops.

National Honor Society Inducts 48 New Members

The Stanley Powell Chapter of the National Honor Society inducted forty-eight new members tonight in a ceremony in the auditorium.  Inductees were charged with upholding the four pillars of the Society: scholarship, leadership, service, and character.  The new members are listed below:
